Career Progression at Muddy Boots
At Muddy Boots, we believe in helping our team grab hold of their dream childcare career, by providing funded education, training, development, and mentoring.
Here’s how we do it:
-
At Muddy Boots we will fund your study to get you to the next level of qualification. We believe in ‘constantly learning’ – and want to give everyone the opportunity to do so! This includes:
Level 3 - Early Years Educator
Level 4 and 5 - Children and Young People Management/Advanced Practice
Level 6 - Early Years Teacher training
-
Anyone interested in furthering their skills or following a childcare passion – we encourage and pay for access to relevant courses and training opportunities. This includes (but isn't limited to) the following areas:
Senco
Special educational needs
Safeguarding
In the moment planning
Loose parts
Enabling environments
Continuous provision
Behaviour that challenges
Speech and language -
We believe in personal development as well as professional! At Muddy Boots, we have a personal development fund, which team members can apply for to help pay for the development of a hobby or passion. All we ask in return is for them to bring that passion or hobby into their room as an exciting activity for the children to try (where appropriate!)
-
One of our key values is ‘Aspiration’ – people that love to learn are our kind of people! We are passionate about reading and encourage everyone to do so – take your pick from the Muddy Boots reading list and we’ll buy you a copy – there are books on topics like Team Work, Self-Leadership, Communication and Personal Development.
As Dr Seuss puts it, “The more that you read, the more things that you’ll know, The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go!”
A real-life story
“Right from the interview I felt at home, and was offered a job shortly after (go me!) Since that point then it's been a whirlwind six years where I have worked my way from an unqualified practitioner to becoming the Area Manager for Muddy Boots.
I have done a level 3 in Childhood studies through York Council alongside a BH Hons Open Degree focused on the first 4 years of Early Years and Childhood Studies. Even with all this going on, Muddy Boots has never said no to my thirst for knowledge, they have always allowed and encouraged me to attend training that I felt would benefit myself, my peers, and ultimately the children I then care for.
The team, owners, and even the parents have always been there to support, guide, and keep me sane throughout the journey, and I honestly don't think I could have tackled it all without their support and understanding!
